to the world I am
just an ordinary girl
who works everyday
paying her bills and
follows all the rules
but when I get home
I pull down my
opaque window shades
I remove my mask
revealing my true face
I released pinned up hair
shed my suit of armor
as the clothes slide off
my hidden roses spring
out into full bloom
I become the person
I was meant to be
one who needs not
explain or apologize
to anyone for being me

Wow! What an incredible poem. The real you popping out and showing your roses. Freedom is a glorious thing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Toni! Let your roses roam free!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful you!
ReplyDeleteIt is good to have a place where one can be oneself. I liked the description: "my hidden roses spring
ReplyDeleteout into full bloom"
So wonderfully eloquent!!❤️
ReplyDeleteI hope you take that "real you" outside sometimes. I think the world would benefit if we all did that more.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to have that place to be the real you ~
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone :)
ReplyDeleteMy hidden roses spring out into full bloom.... gorgeous line. Very liberating and empowering.
