a
passion forbidden
always
too enticing
they
wont’ know
we
tell ourselves
trysts
in darkness
comes
to light
shattering
our charades
despite
all this
we
still dance
the
forbidden tango
telling
ourselves that
they
won’t know
- Inspired by Twiglets #102 - they won't know
reminds me of that old song, "The Dark End of the Street". a timeless tale of desire and deception that you capture well here

ReplyDeleteYou think they don't know but they always do
ReplyDeleteI like the repetition of this line "they wont’ know" tying the poem together.
ReplyDeleteIf you believe they don't know, then in your world - they don't! Enjoy this wrire. Bold and brave Arcadis. Like it... :-)

The lies we tell ourselves.
ReplyDeleteSelf deception is so easy. I have found myself convincing myself of things that, now, looking back on them, were so obvious. A well-told truth here.
ReplyDeleteHa! I think everybody knows especially what we are trying to hide and keep secret. It's great to keep on dancing though. Well penned!
ReplyDelete-HA
If they don't like it, they'll let you know. Keep on tangoing :)
ReplyDeleteI think most times these secrets are less secret than we think... but often it's also more accepted too.
ReplyDeleteWhat they don't know can't hurt them.
ReplyDeleteThat forbidden tango can explode sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteThe lies, we weave around ourselves, to hide the truth and pain that we deny to ourselves. Is the dance worth delaying the hurt and pain, when forced to face reality? Wish, I could answer that question, because I don't know.
ReplyDeletetelling ourselves... poignant, a difficult quandary. Made me think a bit of this lovely piece I have been loving lately from Amanda Shires
