she
wanted to stay connected
to
friends she curated in life
so
she hosted Zoom parties
to
fill in the loneliness of
pandemic
isolation
she
had fun but still missed
the
touch of their hands
the
warm hugs and the
scent
of floral perfume
- This poem is a combination of two prompts that seem similar to me. dVerse Quadrille #173: Zoom Poems and 2023 April PAD Challenge Day 3:connection poem
Glad friends can connect in person now!
ReplyDeleteVery well done. You are right... you can't beat presonal contact!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy these are memories, and not current reality. I remember that isolation well, and yes, so thankful for technology!
ReplyDeleteTechnology really helped us in those bad times.
ReplyDeleteI’m only just getting out and about again, and enjoying the warm hugs. I recognise my life in your quadrille, Maria.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I am still working/playing that embrace of contact tenderly. The perfume of another body ...
ReplyDeleteAh yes technology did span many bridges during the pandemic
ReplyDeleteMuch💜love
The floral perfume, yes. Extending the longing to other senses is effective. Touch, obviously. But when you mentioned scent, you noted something I hadn't considered.
ReplyDeleteExcellent Quadrille marking the loss of human contact.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone :)
ReplyDeleteI feel we have not yet overcome that distancing.
ReplyDeleteYou speak for many of us.
