my high school English teacher
used to say that variety is
the spice of life
perhaps in a way it is true
for one can become bored
with the same old flavors
but sometimes that
familiar seasoning is what
helps keep the insanity away
- Dedicated to my high school English teacher, the late Mr. Leroy Washington

The familiar variety is a good middle ground.

ReplyDeleteI think we need a bit of both.. if nothing else to really appreciate the familiar taste
ReplyDeleteA walk on the wild side now and then is refreshing ...!
ReplyDeleteFunny how these things stay with you...
ReplyDeleteI agree and I like this engagement with what a teacher said ... years ago maybe, but it stuck and was considered more than once
ReplyDeleteIndeed a little bit of sames[ness] and a dash of newness goes a long way
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Very well written, I especially love the last line--so true!
ReplyDeleteFamiliarity cannot be underestimated....it keeps us grounded and secure, but from there we can venture out to new horizons.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone :)
